Deutsche Welle World Explores Majuro

The Marshall islands are battling climate change everyday in Micronesia. These low lying atolls are on the front line of climate change with waters already reaching into homes and effecting peoples lives. Graveyards are being washed away, small islands have receded beneath the waves, salt water intrusion is destroying drinking water tables and homes are falling into the sea. This is not science fiction, this is the life of nearly 100,000 marshalese who are battling climate change on the front line. EDUCATIONE

PEACE works with the Historical Preservation Office in the Federated States of Micronesia to document traditional navigational skills. This important project will preserve navigation skills for future generations. The DVD series will be distriuted to educational institutions across Micronesia.

Palau's Green Fee has been increased to $35 and is being charged to all visitors when they depart. A portion of the Green Fee will support the Protected Areas Network (PAN). The total departure fee including departure tax is now $50.
